welcome to october

i think if i had to pick a favorite month, it would be october. if i had wrote this a few years ago, i would have said may, because that's my birthday, but now it's definitely october. (maybe i really am growing up, eh?) i spent all year counting down the days to sweater season, and it's finally here!  it's also time for hot apple cider, pumpkin pie, and a much prettier drive home to erie. oh yea, and it's time for scarves, and one of justin's favorite things i wear, sweaters with matching scarves.

besides the change of season, october is wonderful because i love that there is an entire month set aside every year for breast cancer awareness. my gramma, who died of breast cancer, would have turned 88 today, so the fact that her birthday falls in october makes me love it that much more. happy birthday gramma :)

something else i love about october is craft fair season. i love walking around craft fairs, especially the outside ones, just being amazed by all the things people create in the comfort of their homes. i, for one, am not all that crafty, and i certainly don't spend much time trying to be crafty, so it makes me very happy when other people are willing to share their craftiness with me. i really need to find some friends in pittsburgh that love this like i do, who would be willing to waste an afternoon sipping hot cider and moseying through aisles of hand-sewn goodies. is there anyone out there locally, who wants to be my in-real-life crafty fair partner?!

on another note, i went to wine fest this weekend, and practiced begin a big girl. after taking a shot's worth of 10 different kinds without any palette cleansers in between, i hated them all, and went home with a headache.  note to self: have snacks at wine party, not just wine!

oh, and just a few days late, here's my year of epic-ness review:
since last week, the following has occurred:
  1. justin got a new job!!  and didn't have any unemployed gap before starting it!
  2. my dad signed a lease on a new apt, so he's not going south until at least may!
  3. my brother's band, paper st., won RockErie Awards - Best Rock Band of 2009!!
  4.  a guy I work with retrieved half of the pictures i lost from rebecca's wedding!
  5. i got to spend 4 whole days at home in erie with my family, thanks to the g20!
still focusing on the positive, and still going strong <3
